Brightwell Vineyard
Profile
One mile from Wallingford and 8 miles from Henley, Brightwell Vineyard abuts the south side of the River Thames. The flinty chalk greensand and gravel of the Thames Valley provides ideal grapevine soil, while the upper Thames Valley is sheltered by the Chilterns, North Wessex Downs and Cotswolds hills. The 14 acre vineyard is owned and run by Bob and Carol Nielsen who acquired the Vineyard in1999. After considerable renovation the Vineyard now produces five different wines (3 white, 1 rose, 1 red) and is winning awards in National and International competitions (Silver Medal in Nîmes France in 2006).
Company profile
Brightwell Vineyard currently produces 3 white wines, a red wine and a rose. 'Oxford Flint' is a fully dry white wine with crisp English fruit and tangy citrus tones. 'Crispin' is a wine where the acidity has been balanced to give a softer edge, showing a subtle fusion of orchard fruit and herb flavours. ' Bacchus' is a soft and fruity white wine with a slight sweetness to balance its dry structure. 'Oxford Regatta' is a clean, fully dry red wine, redolent of English summer berries, with flavours of raspberry and damson. Oxford Rose simply tastes a glassful of strawberries!
