Company Profile:

Mortimer Chocolate Company was started in 2006 by Adrian Smith. Adrian had spent several years tasting and selecting cocoas for the confectionery industry. He wanted people to have the chance to taste these distinctive cocoa flavours in chocolates, as it would have first appeared in Europe when it was introduced from South America: as a flavoursome drink!

Very much a family business, the company has a range of chocolates powders based on cocoas from West Africa, Ecuador, Ghana and Venezuela. Sold in delis, farm shops, local farmers markets and over the internet, the company are also developing national distribution.


Achievements have included:

The company has developed an innovative process to make chocolate in a powder form, retaining more of the special flavour from their select cocoas. As a powder it dissolves easily in milk and water, melting easily too, which makes it ideal for cooking! Adrian's wife, Felicity, has developed a number of recipes using the chocolate, which can be found on the web-site. If the interest shown in the chocolate by several top chefs is anything to go by, then its popularity is assured!
