Michael North

Michael North is the chef and owner of a quintessential English country pub, The Nut Tree in Murcott with his partner Imogen, where he cooks almost every service. He is also the proprietor of The Swan Restaurant in Tetsworth where he leaves the cooking to head chef Derek Muircroft who has worked with Mike for the past 4 years.

Mike and Imogen previously ran the Goose at Britwell Salome where their hard work achieved recognition in every major food guide and Mike became one of the youngest chefs in the country to be awarded a Michelin star at just 25 years old.

The Nut Tree opened its doors in late November 2006 and Mike and Imogen have not looked back. The thatched country pub is set in the heart of the beautiful Otmoor countryside overlooking the village pond, its interior is low with stripped Oak beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls and wood burning stoves, to the rear is the beer garden, stables, aunt sally pitch, lawn and paddocks, which will eventually become the kitchen vegetable garden. The stables have been converted into accommodation for eight Gloucester old spot /Tamworth cross pigs which will feature on Mikes menus towards the end of summer . The bar stocks an impressive range of fine wines and spirits and also serves three real ales which change at the local's behest.
