Roy Ackerman CBE

Roy Ackerman's career spans over 40 years in the hospitality, restaurant and associated industries. He started his career as an apprentice chef and now represents Britain over 4 continents as Chairman of the World Master of Culinary Arts. For the last five years he has also been responsible for the European Awards for the Cafes of Europe Guide. Roy Ackerman was awarded an OBE in 1990 for his contribution to tourism and training and was made a CBE in 2004 for services to Gastronomy.

He served 10 years as Chairman and then President of the Restaurant Association of Great Britain . 10 years as the Chairman of the Hotel and Catering Training Board now the Hospitality Training Foundation.

In 2003 as a tribute to founding the Henley Festival of Music and the Arts he was made an honorary president to celebrate its 21 st Year.

His past business roles have included:

- Chairman of Simpsons of Cornhill plc
- Chairman of The Restaurant Partnership plc
- Chairman of 190 Queen's Gate plc
- Deputy Chairman of Kennedy Brooks plc

Currently Roy's consultancy business, Tadema Studios, concept division works with many of the country's leading chefs and restaurateurs in tandem with major hotel groups. He has via the publishing and TV arm written and produced some 40 books including The Ackerman Guide, The Egon Ronay Guides and produced and appeared in 6 major TV series.

Amongst his restaurant involvement Roy has created for Hilton Hotels, Homage Grand Salon, Patisserie and Bar at The Waldorf, Collage Restaurant and Tapaell'ya Bar and Restaurant for Radisson SAS Glasgow, Filini restaurants for Radisson SAS in Liverpool, Belfast, Stansted and Birmingham, Refettorio, in conjunction with Giorgio Locatelli at Crowne Plaza City, Little Island Grill in Cork, Ireland and a Bar/Restaurant for Radisson SAS Edinburgh. He is currently working on 4 new hotel projects for Hilton and Radisson in the UK , 2 hotel projects in Dubai and a major project for Intercontinental Hotels London.
